July 29th News, according to TechCrunch, New York AI detection startup Pangram has completed a $9 million funding round, led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from Haystack, ScOp, Script Capital, and Cadenza. Pangram also announced the release of its next-generation text detection model, Pangram 4, and its image detection model, Pangram Image. The company claims the former achieves over 99% accuracy in detecting purely AI-generated or human-AI hybrid writing, and can identify "AI polishing" and humanization tools that bypass detection. The system, trained on tens of millions of human documents and their corresponding "synthetic mirrors," judges whether content is AI-generated based on stylistic and word choice differences, without relying on watermarks. Pangram currently offers its services through web subscriptions, Chrome extensions, and APIs to platforms like Substack and Quora, as well as universities and publishing houses.
