Uzbekistan Resumes Gold Exports
en
As one of the world's largest gold-producing countries, Uzbekistan fully resumed gold exports in April after a six-month suspension. According to the country's State Statistics Committee on Tuesday, Uzbekistan exported about $1.5 billion worth of non-monetary gold in the first four months of this year; data shows that most of this export volume was completed in April. Uzbekistan's annual gold production is about 130 tons. Since September last year, the country has actually stopped exporting gold, while at the same time, its central bank has become one of the world's largest buyers of this precious metal. Russia, another major gold-producing country, has also accelerated its gold sales recently.
