Polymarket Establishes Research Institute to Promote Academic Research on Prediction Markets

en
July 29th, according to Fortune, prediction market platform Polymarket announced the establishment of the Polymarket Institute, dedicated to funding independent academic research on how prediction markets can replace traditional polls and forecasting models in large-scale scenarios. The institute is fully funded by Polymarket, operates internally, with Kai Brusch, Polymarket's Head of Data, serving as Executive Director, and Brian Jabarian, Assistant Professor of Economics and Technology at Carnegie Mellon University, as Scientific Director. Research areas include information aggregation, risk management, and intersections with AI, policy, and crypto markets. Participating scholars must sign an agreement, refrain from trading on platforms like Polymarket during their research, and make their code and methods open-source, while retaining the right to publish without Polymarket's intervention.
