On May 21, the on-chain trading card platform Fantasy.top announced that it will shut down at the end of June after two years of operation. The team stated that the long-term economics of the TCG model ultimately showed its limitations, with insufficient trading volume to sustainably support long-term operations. Over the past year, the team explored various social vertical products such as prediction markets, mind share tracking, and social graph betting, but none achieved lasting market fit. All investors will receive a full refund. Major Fantasy matches will continue until June 18, until all remaining rewards are distributed. Prediction markets, prize pools, arenas, and other games will close on May 21. Previously, in December 2014, Fantasy.Top completed a $4.25 million seed round of financing, led by Dragonfly.
