Several US House members wrote to Trump, urging the appointment of a full list of CFTC commissioners

On May 16, according to CoinDesk, several key members of the U.S. House of Representatives have jointly written to President Trump, urging him to appoint a full slate of Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioners, including Democrats. The ranking members of the committees overseeing the agency, both Republican and Democrat, believe that a full five-member commission would "better serve" the public, especially as the agency takes on new cryptocurrency regulatory responsibilities. The agency will play a central role in regulating the cryptocurrency industry as new rules are proposed and the Clarity Act, aimed at structuring the market, moves through the Senate. Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson, R-Pa., and Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., wrote to the president on Friday, urging him to nominate four new commissioners, two from each party. The agency is currently in a highly unusual situation, led by Republican Chairman Mike Selig, who is also the sole commissioner.
