Tether's gold-backed token XAUt receives Sharia certification, expanding into the Islamic finance market

en
On July 28, according to Cointelegraph, Tether's gold-backed token XAUt has received Shariah certification from Amanah Advisors, confirming its structure complies with Islamic finance principles—including full backing by physical gold, no interest or leverage, and transparent reserves. Each XAUt represents one ounce of physical gold stored in Swiss vaults. This certification provides Tether with a clearer path to promote XAUt to Islamic financial institutions and investors, and is expected to drive adoption in the Gulf Cooperation Council, South Asia, and parts of Africa. XAUt is one of the largest tokenized gold products in the crypto market, with its on-chain asset value increasing from approximately $700 million in July 2025 to about $2.5 billion.
