Celsius Former Executive Agrees to Turn Over $1.07 Million to U.S. Government Before Sentencing

On May 14, according to Cointelegraph, Roni Cohen-Pavon, former Chief Revenue Officer of the defunct cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius, will transfer over $1 million under a forfeiture order from US authorities on the eve of his sentencing hearing. New York Southern District Attorney Jay Cohen stated that Cohen-Pavon has agreed to a judgment of $1.07 million, representing funds traceable to his criminal proceeds. Any cash or cryptocurrency funds he holds on the Celsius platform may be counted towards the amount paid if they are part of the repayment in the bankruptcy case. In April of this year, Cohen-Pavon's lawyers requested the court to consider his time already served as his sentence, citing his cooperation with the government and his potential role in Mashinsky's plea. The lawyers stated that Cohen-Pavon "takes full responsibility for his actions."
