US Prosecutors Question Authenticity of SBF's Request for Retrial from Prison

en
US federal prosecutors stated in a court filing that a letter claiming to be from FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), who is currently imprisoned, was actually sent via FedEx from the Palo Alto or Menlo Park area. The letter mistakenly labeled his federal prison as a state prison and used a printed "/s/" for the signature. Prosecutors pointed out that prison regulations prohibit inmates from using private couriers like FedEx, and these details raised doubts about whether SBF was the true author of the letter. However, they did not directly accuse SBF or his associates of document forgery. The letter was used to support SBF's request for a retrial, with one of his grounds for appeal being that customer funds have been recovered in the FTX bankruptcy proceedings.
