July 30th News, according to Bits.media, Andrey Svintsov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Information Policy Committee, suggested that citizens stop buying the cryptocurrency Gram (formerly TON) created by Telegram founder Pavel Durov and avoid any financial operations within the Telegram ecosystem, including paid subscriptions and purchasing Gram. He advised waiting for official comments from the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) and the Federal Security Service (FSB) before taking action. Svintsov stated that the Russian authorities' demands to Pavel Durov are that Telegram must open an office in Russia, store user data within Russia, and cooperate with Russian intelligence agencies. The FSB had previously filed a criminal case against Durov on charges of "assisting terrorist activities," and investigative bodies will apply for his arrest in absentia from the Moscow Lefortovo Court for international wanted and extradition purposes.
