May 16th News, the Ministry of Public Security Criminal Investigation Bureau's official WeChat account published an article titled "Beware of Online Scams Targeting Minors," which revealed a new type of online scam chain characterized by "game traffic diversion + impersonation of public security, procuratorate, and court + virtual currency money laundering." Criminals publish advertisements on gaming and social platforms to guide minors to add friends, extort funds from parents' accounts through intimidation, and then purchase virtual currency with the illicit funds after they are split and withdrawn through black and gray industry platforms. This virtual currency, not restricted by region, can be silently funneled back to overseas scam dens, completing the "physical isolation" of cross-border funds. The Ministry of Public Security Criminal Investigation Bureau reminds the public that public security, procuratorate, and court organs will never handle cases online, will never intimidate or demand payments, and will never ask for passwords or verification codes.
