South Korea's KB Card Partners with Avalanche to Develop Hybrid Stablecoin Credit Card Payment System
en
March 31st news, according to The Block, major South Korean credit card company KB Kookmin Card announced it will partner with Avalanche to develop a hybrid stablecoin payment model. The model aims to be built on a public blockchain, allowing users to link digital wallets with existing credit cards. When making payments, the system will prioritize using the stablecoin balance in the wallet, with any shortfall covered by credit card payment. KB Card is collaborating with digital asset infrastructure company OpenAsset to develop a complete stablecoin system covering top-ups, payments, and settlements. This move aims to lower the barrier to using stablecoins by retaining the familiar credit card experience for users, and aligns with South Korea's regulatory direction to promote the establishment of a stablecoin market pegged to the Korean Won.
