The Sandbox Co-founder Sebastien Borget's wife was the victim of an attempted kidnapping in France, police say it may be related to crypto assets

The Block reports that Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, recently experienced an attempted kidnapping at his wife's residence in Villenoy, Seine-et-Marne, France. According to French media, a suspect disguised as a delivery person rang the doorbell, and upon opening the door, five accomplices wearing hoods stormed the property and attempted to force her into a vehicle. Neighbors intervened, causing the suspects to flee. Police later intercepted a ride-sharing car and arrested two teenage suspects, seizing a fake handgun, restraints, and hoods. Initial investigations suggest the incident is related to cryptocurrency. France has recorded over a hundred kidnapping or attempted kidnapping incidents related to crypto assets since 2023.
