Visa CEO avoids positioning OUSD as a challenger to USDT and USDC, stating its role is "not to pick winners."

Visa CEO Ryan McInerney stated on an earnings call that "Visa will maintain a multi-currency, multi-chain strategy. Our role is not to pick winners, but to help clients securely connect to the stablecoin ecosystem at scale, regardless of which stablecoin, network, or infrastructure ultimately gains adoption." Last month, Visa joined the Open Standard Alliance, comprising over 140 companies, to support the launch of Open USD stablecoin. This month, Visa launched an internal platform to assist banks and fintech companies in using stablecoins, initially supporting OUSD. When asked if Open USD (OUSD) would compete with USDT and USDC, McInerney did not respond directly, only stating, "Open Standard is designed with neutral governance and a shared economic model because it believes this model will help scale stablecoins into the payments space. While we often discuss stablecoins on calls and in other forums, stablecoins have not yet achieved scale in many use cases beyond stablecoin-linked cards."
