PayPal Q2 Earnings Exceed Expectations, No Response on Potential Acquisition Deal
en
PayPal announced its second-quarter earnings, with adjusted earnings per share of $1.38, exceeding analysts' expectations of $1.27. Total payment volume reached $486.4 billion, also higher than market estimates. The company also raised its 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $5.38, higher than last year's level. Previously, private equity firm Advent and payment competitor Stripe had made an acquisition offer of approximately $60 per share, to which PayPal did not respond in its latest statement. New CEO Enrique Lores, who took office in March, has already restructured business lines and plans to lay off approximately 20% of staff in the next two to three years.
