Galaxy Acquires 500 Acres of Land in Texas to Expand AI Data Center

On July 28, according to Galaxy's official website, Galaxy has signed a development agreement with the City of McGregor to acquire approximately 500 acres of land in the McGregor Industrial Park, McLennan County, Texas, for the construction of an AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data center campus. This marks Galaxy's second major data center project in Texas. The initial phase is planned for a capacity of approximately 74MW, and Galaxy has received preliminary approval from the utility company for the construction of grid connection facilities. The campus is expected to gradually power up and operate starting in 2028, with the potential to expand to a multi-hundred MW campus upon completion of new transmission infrastructure. The project will be self-funded by Galaxy, involving the construction of a new private substation, the adoption of a closed-loop cooling system, and a commitment to fulfill all tax obligations. It is estimated to add at least $130 million to the local tax base and create local jobs during the construction and operational phases.
