Pro-crypto candidate Menefee wins Texas Democratic primary runoff with Fairshake's support

On May 27, according to The Block, in the Democratic primary runoff for Texas's 18th Congressional District, pro-cryptocurrency Christian Menefee defeated incumbent Al Green, who had served for 20 years, with crypto super PACs providing millions of dollars in support. Menefee received funding from Protect Progress, a super PAC affiliated with Fairshake. Green held a strongly critical stance on cryptocurrency, warning that digital assets could threaten the dollar's global role and national security, and voted against the GENIUS stablecoin bill and the CLARITY Act, receiving an F rating from Stand with Crypto. Menefee, on the other hand, received an A rating. A Fairshake spokesperson stated that anti-crypto hostile attitudes have electoral consequences, and Green became the first Democratic incumbent to lose this cycle.
