Macau Hosts Sino-Portuguese Central Bank Digital Currency Seminar, Exploring New Paths for Cross-border Financial Cooperation

On June 1, the Monetary Authority of Macao held the "China-Lusophone Central Bank Digital Currency Development and Cross-border Innovative Application High-Level Seminar" to explore innovative cooperation paths between China and Lusophone countries in the field of cross-border central bank digital currency applications and to enhance the functions of Macao's "China-Lusophone Financial Services Platform." Approximately 250 officials, financial practitioners, and experts from Lusophone countries, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao attended the seminar. Huang Shanwen, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Monetary Authority of Macao, stated that Macao continues to build dialogue platforms, facilitate cooperation channels, and consolidate development synergy between China and Lusophone countries in various fields such as economy, trade, finance, and the digital economy. In accordance with the requirements of the "15th Five-Year Plan" outline, Macao is pragmatically advancing the construction of the "Digital Macao Pataca" to promote RMB internationalization and solidify the hub function of the China-Lusophone Financial Services Platform.
